After scratching out a circle to the required diameter (approx 1934mm) using a couple of six inch nails, and a length of builders twine, I laid out 54 bricks and set to getting the spacings right and the circle as even as possible. This being the first level , it was crucial to get this as accurate as possible, as all levels above would be based on this one…

Time to mix some mortar and get started…

Not being a bricklayer, and having only ever built a small 3 course brick wall around the edge of our patio, I was quite pleased with my first brick circle!
