I said “Let There Be Light,” and There Was Light…

Now, this level is a bit more interesting. As I’ve been building up the layers I though it might be nice to have some underwater lights to illuminate the fish on balmy summers evenings.

There’s already a mains supply to the shed (I’ll be using this to power the pump and UV clarifier later), which powers some home made 12v lamps on the patio:

Made with copper pipe and fittings with 12v festoon laps. I originally tried LED lamps but found these a bit too harsh, so switched to normal filament lamps.

So I’ve concocted a design for the underwater lamps using pickled chilli jars (empty of course), some folded aluminium sheets, and some G4 halogen lamp fittings. Then I can just link it up to my exiting cabling, swap the single gang switch for a two gang, and hey presto!

Here’s the chilli jars firmly in place in the 5th course.
