A Design

Over the last week or so I’ve been thinking about how the pond will look. Will we try to make a round pond, like the one at Bedgebury? Or will it be easier to build a square pond? Will a square pond look as nice and will it be strong enough to contain the water?

Ideally, I’d like the pond to be sunken below the level of the ground, but with the edge at a height where you can sit on it and any fish swimming around are nice and close. In terms of location in the garden, that leaves only one place that’s feasible – next to the patio where the lilac tree is, which is a shame because it’s a lovely tree, but it will have to go. It would probably have to go sooner rather than later anyway, as the main trunk is very rotten…
