Brickin’ it!

Okay, I’ve just done some research about bricks. If we’re going to have water in them and if they’re going to be buried in the ground then they need to have a very low water absorption value. This will stop them absorbing water that will break the brick down during the freezing winter.

The best brick for this seems to be a Staffordshire Blue engineering brick, which will also give the pond an interesting colour:
